About the Conference
The 30th Biennial Conference on Chemical Education (BCCE) will be held August 6–10, 2028 at the University of California San Diego. BCCE is the largest gathering of chemistry educators in the world, bringing together instructors, researchers, K–12 teachers, and education professionals to share ideas, build community, and strengthen teaching and learning across contexts.
Bridging Communities: Growing & Thriving
Being located in the headlands of La Jolla, University of California San Diego is adjacent to Torrey Pines State Natural Reserve and home to the nation’s rarest pine tree. The torrey pine (Pinus torreyana) grows in the harsh environment of the coastal cliffs and exemplifies the theme of Growing & Thriving. The chemistry education community will need to embody this principle as we face the challenges of integrating AI into teaching and learning, and the broader resistance to scientific thinking that has permeated in our political discourse.
The conference will leverage the distinct nature of the California higher education system to connect chemistry educators from R1 institutions, four-year undergraduate-focused campuses, two-year colleges, and secondary education. The conference will also place an emphasis on bridging the work of chemistry education researchers with classroom practitioners.
